We are pleased to inform today that the UIM has reallocated the status of ‘titled events’ to the F2, F4 and F500 races allocated to Italy in 2016. Following a constructive meeting between the UIM President Raffaele Chiulli and FIM President Vincenzo Iaconianni in Rome, in presence of Secretary General Thomas Kurth and Riccardo La Cognata, an agreement was reached, whereas the forthcoming UIM titled events in the categories F2, F4 and F500 to be held in Italy would be official UIM test events for the use of the HANS device and other authorized devices. The Italian Powerboat Federation will arrange for all required materials and facilities to be available on-site, to allow participating drivers the possibility to perform extensive testing of the various devices considered by the UIM regulations under guidance of expert personnel.
This initiative represents another important step forward in the untiring efforts of the UIM and the Italian Powerboat Federation to reinforce Safety in the Powerboating sport. The UIM highly appreciates that FIM President Vincenzo Iaconianni will supervise the related operations in person.
Please also note that the Italian Federation will shortly communicate a new date for the events, initially scheduled in Boretto on May 13-15, which are to be postponed due to the weather conditions.
