Communication to National Authorities:
Copy : Cominsport – Comintech – Cominsafe – Safety Cockpit committee – Formula Committee – Council
Dear Ladies, Dear Sirs,
In reference to the attached communication of last week, please note that “grouped” UIM boat checks have been scheduled in the following countries in February 2018 :
– 3rd and 4th February in Duisburg, Germany
– 6th and 7th February in Milano, Italy
– 9th, 10th and 11th February in Helsinki, Finland
– 13th and 14th February in Tallinn, Estonia
– 16th, 17th and 18th February in the United Kingdom
The NA’s having registered boats using safety cockpits which cannot show up at these forthcoming “boat checks” are strongly advised to send their boat measurer(s) to get trained by the designated UIM officials on occasion of the first “grouped” UIM boat check to be held in Duisburg, Germany (located 25 km from Dusseldorf airport) on Saturday 3rd February as from 9 am. Once back home, the trained boat measurer(s) shall be able to perform said checks for those boats not being able to be brought to the “grouped” UIM boat checks in February.
Any NA interested in this training must communicate the complete coordinates of any delegated person(s) for this purpose to the UIM office, email@example.com and to DMYV, Cordula Namyslo. Contact email : firstname.lastname@example.org
The training will be organized in the DMYV office at Vinckeufer Strasse 12-14, in Duisburg. We have been advised by DMYV that delegates can check for room availability at the Intercity Hotel Duisburg, located Mercatostrasse 57. (contact email : email@example.com)
This Hotel is located 6 km from the DMVY office and the use of the tram is free for the hotel guests. There exists also the possibility that Peter Bardenheuer will pick up the delegates for a transfer from the Hotel to the DMYV premises by car.
Please note that these „grouped” CIRCUIT boat checks by UIM officials currently being organized are not compulsory for drivers, boat owners and boat builders. They are conducted with the purpose to give drivers and boat owners & builders certainty on whether their boat(s) is/are „fit for racing” as per provisions of the 2018 UIM Rulebook. In cases where a boat might not be perfectly compliant with the rules, guidance, advice and recommendations will be given to the drivers and boat owners regarding what needs to be done.
We are well aware that not all existing boats will show up at these “grouped” UIM boat checks, and the drivers/boat owners concerned will have to face a boat check at the first race where they show up, with the risk that such boats might be denied participation in the race, if shortcomings are detected on that occasion.
